Healing

CW image shows a healing reconstructed breast.

Today is day 19 post surgery and I’m pleased to say I’m healing well. I can now bath and shower (I can’t tell you what a relief that has been). Not every day as I have a couple of little areas on my new boob that aren’t quite healed. But since it’s all a bit of a faff, I’m good with that.

The abdominal wound is properly healed and I’ll start moisturising that and the breast scar this coming week (I believe). The main issue with it all right now is itching, which I take to be a normal sign of healing. My abdomen still feels very tight, especially when I’m out walking and my muscles tense further. All very weird, but apparently normal.

This weekend we’re staying in an airbnb while we visit a town near Wales for a music festival. So today’s photo is from a different bathroom. We have a lovely bath, so it seemed rude not to use it. Sadly I couldn’t sit and luxuriate in it today as stuff to do and also I’m not sure I’m yet ready for that. But as the healing process continues that time will come. For your information, if interested, it doesn’t hurt and there isn’t all that much sensation yet. Further down the line, I’m thinking I’ll have my scars covered with beautiful tattoos. But that’s a long way off. Meanwhile I’m continuing to heal and recover.

I'm sitting in the bath all wet. My newly healing right boob is healing, but scar clearly visible. It's more pert than my natural left boob. But I'm good with that.

  1. Julie,

Itchy sux but is definitely a sign of healing. I hope y’all enjoy your weekend music festival. I am longing to hear some live music.
