Blogging A-Z Challenge 2021: When, not if

It looks like I’ll make it to the end of this once again and because I am a day behind (still) this is a 2 for 1 offer! W is for what and not if and X is for Xany and Xenas. You’ll have to wait to find out what they hell they mean.

When, not if

There have been times over the past year when I’ve wondered if we’ll be able to do normal stuff again. I’m pretty sure I will never take freedom to go places and do things for granted. I’m old enough now for that definitely to be the case. I have also seen from the way my mum has deteriorated physically over the past year that mobility can be lost by not moving enough. Indeed anxiety and fear make you more fearful and anxious, so it’s not just physical deterioration we should worry about but mental health problems too.

The pandemic caused terrible illness and death. But now we are all left with the after effects. Hence the title of this post. It’s time to think about when we get back to normality and not if. Time to plan (even if we don’t know when we will do things), get the bucket list ready!

Through life we put things off, we think that we might do things, we’ll think about it later. But what if later never came, would we be happy to put them on the too busy list? I for one don’t want to do that. I want to get to the end and think I’ve done what I planned and wanted to do.

Trouble is I don’t actually have a list. But I’ll stick a few things here for good measure. I want to travel to more continents – Asia and Australia spring to mind. To go up in a hot air balloon and also to paraglide (preferably by the coast somewhere). I’d like to see more of the British Isles and also Ireland, which is a place I have never been. To eat new and different food and to enjoy music of other nations. Yep, it’s all about travel for me. More simply I just want to get back to seeing likeminded people. But more than that I’d love to meet some of the bloggers I’ve never yet had the pleasure of meeting. I don’t know when I’ll be able to do those things. But it’s when not if.

Words beginning with X that describe me!

These last few letters of the A-Z can be a pain and none more than X. A few years ago I chose Xanado which was great fun and taught me something I didn’t know. This year I give you the3 words Xany and Xenas

Xany

Apparently it means overly energetic or someone with lots of energy. I was definitely that once. Rushing everywhere in an over enthusiastic way. I think that’s why I needed to give up work in 2018, I wore myself out being far to xany! Lockdown probably sent me in the opposite direction, especially this last one over the winter.

But you can’t keep a xany girl down for too long. Just over 2 weeks ago I embarked on a fitness programme. Since then I’m definitely feeling more Xany. It must be the daily exercise videos or the twice weekly swimming. The scales haven’t moved, but I’m feeling my energy levels rise. This will be useful for when I start to do more stuff again (see above).

Xenas

This means mighty, confident or strong. The thing is that as I get older I get more confident in many areas of my life. Also less fearful of making a complete idiot of myself. Mighty and strong, well that relates back to the Xany side. Being far to strong for my own good led me to get worn out. So these days I plan to pace myself a bit more. But yes, I’m pretty mighty; don’t mess with me.

These might be useful in scrabble too!

  1. It takes a lot of hope to make plans again.
Good way to mix W and X. Those are great words to describe yourself.
I love letter X posts! Always such variety.
It’s hard to believe the blogging challenge is almost over for 2021. Then the after survey, reflections, and the road trip sign-up.
Plus, I’m taking part in the Bout of Books read-a-thon in May. So much excitement!
